... are trim middle aged super fit people.... The hotel was some three hundred years old complete with plastered walls and old wooden shutters. As with Italy the wi fi did not work in our room nor did the exhaust fan in the bathroom, but the water was hot and the bed was comfortable. We had time to wander around the town and went to the local cathedral which was once again magnificent. It was quite young, around 1200 AD and had massive columns to a higher ceiling which is ...

... that the swimming pool is shut (as is the disco but that’s not such a bad thing) and the campsite is busy, especially as today is a public holiday in Italy, Republic Day, celebrating the birth of the Italian Republic in 1946. Most Italians are making the most of a long weekend. The campsite is also hosting two sets of German teenagers on their school trip along with the usual Dutch and German contingent. We ...

A travel blog entry by erzetic on May 30, 2015

Another glorious day. We have elected to skip breakfast and Get on the road early. Steve is our driver and we are heading to a small village on the top a hill about 160km south of Siena. The village so called ????????????. We finally arrive and from the car park we can see the town as it is perched on the top of a small rock formation. We get there via a steep but syllable foot bridge. There is not a Lott in the town but the views around the ares are spectacular. We ...

... terminology, and went on a ferry across to our hotel on Lido Island. Very nice small hotel with very comfortable rooms, ours looks out onto the lovely garden, some have balconies and look across the water. Went down for a meal and then a short walk down to the car ferry terminus. Back to room to catch up on photo log - what a mess. Bed. Long day, not too trying. Venice is amazing. So different, can't imagine how people live and work in such a place. What you are used to I ...

Day 8 Lago di Vico, Palazzo Farnese and Viterbo

Another busy day. The weather wasn't all that but with so many great things nearby we felt we should get out and about. We went to Caprorola via Lake Vico to see the Palazzo Farnese. The town wasn't up to much but the Palazzo was amazing. Old Farnese had some cash to spend on luxuries and it certainly shows in this Palazzo. The main building is a pentagonal shape on the outside with a circular courtyard on ...
