After another brief Tesco experience we set out from home to Prudhoe castle supposedly within walking distance. After walking for more than an hour and spotting the castle high on the hill we changed our minds and returned taking only a couple of wrong turns and finally solving the problem of the missing bridge!

We leave Woodbridge and head to the coast visiting a couple of little towns along the way, Pretty scary roads but beautiful countryside. We make our way north and end up in Sunderland for the night which is on the coast. ... 11th Century but much of what you see today was built by the Victorian industrialist William Armstrong and the Armstrong family still own it and live there today. The walk from the camp site into Bamburgh crosses a golf course, rounds the headland, and provides excellent view of the Castle and the Farne Islands but luckily we managed to catch one of the rarely spotted buses back as walking both ways would have a little too far!
