... and 20 minutes queuing is a nightmare on one of the busiest days in the British travellers calendar. Eventually we head back via a reasonable change at Reading and we get to Newton Abbott station and a quick cab ride home.

I'd pre warned our neighbours who had been fantastic at filling our empty fridge and freezer with staples to get us through our first night back. There was a welcome party ready with keys, help ...

It was raining a bit but I felt it didn't seem to be enough to justify the amount of water in the garage, anyway I dried it all out and just before going to bed checked it again and lo and behold more water. The rest of the train is 2 carriages crammed to the hilt with home goers, it reminds me of ...

Drove across Bodmin Moor to the pub called "Jamaica Inn," scene of the novel by Daphne Du Maurier. The pub was built as a coaching house in 1750. We looked at the museum , partly about the authoress and partly about Cornish smuggling through the years, the subject of the book. I had read almost all Daphne's books years ago, when I lived in Plymouth, but still ...

Lazy day, with late brekkie. Drove with Liz and John via Torpoint and then Millbrook to Maker Heights, when we sat outside to eat lunch overlooking Cawsand - amazing in late November!

Then walked across Mt Edgecombe parkland along an inlet from the sea to Cremyll, when we had a drink in the old pub, the Edgecombe Arms, before walking back; in all, about 3 miles.
Lovely lazy dinner in front of a roaring fire. So good to see our old pals ...
