... as a swamp tour. We had no idea what to expect but it turned out to be a great experience. There were about 10 of us and a guide taking off in a boat designed for sliding through tight spaces and shallow water. We spent two and a half hours on the water going through swamp areas, a lake, and a bayou and viewing an amazing array of birdlife and cypress trees. We even lucked out and had some sunshine on part of the trip.

Last stop for the day was Port Hudson. The Siege of Port Hudson, Louisiana (22 May - 9 July 1863), was the final engagement in the Union campaign to liberate the Mississippi in the American Civil War.

... we came across our first bridge then there were several more we crossed before we crossed into MS about 12:30, then another one or two before we crossed into LA about 2pm. We finally pulled into the campground about 3:45pm. By that time we had run in and out of rain several times and then it started raining again a couple of times before nightfall.
