Rosenhof Country House Oudtshoorn

Efter en uge i Plettenburg og et par dage i George tog vi til Oudtshorn hvor vi er nu. Oudtshorn er verdens strudsehovedstad, hvilken titel.<br>Vi er blevet taget godt imod paa vores nuvaerende hostel. Bartenderen her har saagar taget os med i byen to gange. Saa servicen er i top. Der er ogsaa gratis strudseaeg til morgenmad, hvilket jeg dog er blevet ret traet af. Nu har jeg saa ogsaa vaeret her i 6 dage, saa er vel undskyldt.<br>Paa Loerdag tager vi til ...

... up the Swartberg pass so we could have lunch at the top. It's 1586 meters above sea level, 500 meters taller than Table Mountain. The road is gravel and is very twisty and it took a while to get up there. ... br><br>Although we'd gorged ourselves on breakfast, the Sunday lunch roasts brought on some severe salivation. I ate as much as I could as I couldn't validate any of it going to waste. Just as I was about to roll myself off the seat they then brought out a huge piece of lemon meringue pie... What is one to do but to eat it??? I had not stuffed myself to such a degree in what I'm guessing is years, and was convinced I'd fall asleep on my bike mere kilometres ...

... was more comical than anything else and I think the "riding" part was more a contest of how long I could actually stay on the ostrich before falling off (which ended up being about 45 seconds). I spent the night at a really nice guest/ farmhouse sort of place and then this morning went to the Cango Caves. The caves were really something. Although not the biggest I've been to, I think the formations here were more spectacular than those I've seen anywhere else.

The Cango Caves are located in the foothills of the Swartberg range near the town of Oudtshoorn. ... to go on the adventure tour which would have us climbing through the caves in small spaces. Only one problem: I had a huge hole in my jeans and worse it was on my backside. I don't really think other people climbing through the caves behind me would appreciate that unless they were those 2 gay guys. Luckily, in the trunk of the car I had some shorts. ... seen the African penguins that have a beach all to themselves, been to the planetarium (twice!) and the museums, visited the markets, witnessed various muggings, taken a tour on Robben Island and been out a hell of a lot and spent far too much! My plans before I go home are to climb and abseil Table Mountain, visit some wine regions and go diving with great whites, but time isn't on my side as I leave early on ...

... as he thought... a garden with little statues of fairies, Harry Potter characters, as well as the Seven Dwarfs and little benches in the shape of mushrooms. The couple that owns the place has been running it for 15 years!! And they dress up like fairies everyday, and when you leave they wish fairy hugs, kisses, and protection on you. Other than that, I am really looking forward to my family arriving!!! It will be so great to see them and get a taste of home!
