A very quiet and peaceful evening, blessed with no midges as it was cold but this made the skies clearer and the light and colours spectacular. We walked a little, enjoyed our evening meal with some wine and a good, long sleep. En route to Tampere now for a look see and perhaps a shop before we find somewhere for the night, we shall see! Having been here before helped ...

      A sprint to the Finnish

... car park - the reason we were in Tampere in the first place. And it really is spectacular. A man made cavern some 20m wide and 10m high and perhaps a kilometre long all 30m under the streets of Tampere. The size and lighting made for a very airy feeling, quite at odds with the fact that it's a deep cave.

... set up in their spots, opening bottles of wine and beer while waiting for the late night sunset. We continued walking, just taking it all in, until we made it down to the river's edge. A brilliant sunset was our reward for the long walk. On the way back to the hostel, we stopped at a nearby pub for a couple pints and a sample of Finnish gin. 24 May 2014: Upon waking up late, we immediately set out for a couple of museums that sounded ...

... band and Hamid the driver. Now, this being Finland, shows don't start until late. We'd planned to arrive at the airport before 5pm so we could be at the venue for 6, like at an English venue. No, no, no, no, shows here don't open their doors until at least 10pm, we got told. Sweet, more time to get the beers in before we go on then!

We got to Henry's Pub in Tampere about an hour later, loaded all our gear in and got shown the ...

... we went to another bar. The vibe there was really cool. They had a band playing blues.. and even had an impromptu kareoke session which was kinda strange.. but cool nonetheless. I didn't want another beer. I was feeling so bloated from drinking nothing but. Asta bought us a couple of shots of this pink stuff.. a drink made of vodka and hard candy. It was alright.. but I won't be stocking up on vodka and candy when I get home ;D
