On Saturday I walked to St Luke's shopping centre in Mt Eden and sorted out a sim card, and then got in touch with Helen Chen, the girl I had arranged to meet up with through couchsurf.com, and the German guy she was already hosting, Ben. ... to see whole families and groups of friends gathering to play tag rugby and rounders. Saw one family of "islanders" playing softball with what seemed like a War club ! Friends Wendy (who is the head ranger) and Darren live in traditional house at the end of Long Bay park. They had a huge BBQ ,bring sausages and tent thing, which was fun as had pretty much whole of that end of park and beach to play. Darren has lots of toys . Paddle boards, surf boards ...
... back with just enough city style to fuel a constant buzz of atmosphere . In the harbour, Piers and wharves are rarely empty as everything from ferries to freighters use the waterways as their entrance to Auckland. ... hotel gym for a 30 mins run. Sus has been suffering with a bit of a cold but nothing too bad. Anna has lost her voice although seems ok.
The weather today has been much the same as yesterday, although a little cloudy in the morning (not a problem given that we were under ground/water for most of it). This afternoon was blue skies and sunshine once more.
After quiet time, we had a much more successful afternoon ...
