... 9 3/4. The station our train left from was right across the street so we lugged our bags towards the Eurostar terminal. For lunch I had breakfast at a small cafe in the terminal and we all took turns trying to spend our remaining British pounds at the convenient store nearby. Before we knew it the train was boarding and we found our seats. The ride back I slept 90% of the time since I could feel a cold coming on. Sure enough I was sick the entire next week. Our return to ...
London, England, United Kingdom t.rosile... Museum was not really my thing, basically just stuff I was forced to learned in school and have since forgotten. I did think the Tate Modern was pretty cool, if not a bit disturbing in parts. The first concert I went to was Bat for Lashes, at a venue called the Somerset House. Very cool venue in the middle of a huge courtyard. Naturally, it rained for quite a bit of the show. But it also thundered, which was actually ...
London, England, United Kingdom tidolu14... back here - they have adult-only nights once a month, I think. I'd totally go to that.
After that, went back to Bayswater to go on the internet for a bit to kill a little time before having to go back to Covent Garden and seeing Chicago. This was my fourth, and final, West End play of the trip. http://www.cambridgetheatre.co.uk/curre nt-show.htm

... and hour away from London. Ouch that all cost us over 100 dollars to do!!! Welcome to pounds prices where the cost of things is double what we are used to in Australia and coming from cheaper again Sth America we were gob smacked. However that aside we arrived in Cambridge county where we were given a lovely welcome by Tony and Jane who let us stay in their sweet cottage's spare room over the weekend. We had a wonderful Indian meal that night with them and talked ...
London, England, United Kingdom kasnsqueak... like me he thought it would be safer to ask. That said, as I headed off to take the first photo, I heard him radio to his colleagues that I was in the area and had asked permission to photograph buildings. I didn’t see another security person while I was there so I guess I was doing OK.
After about an hour, I had taken all the photos I wanted (results still to ...
... rode back into town. From the window of the train car, we saw exorbitantly expensive riverfront apartment buildings, as well as public housing projects with laundry hung from door to door and veiled Muslim women chasing children. What a contrast. Today it was Tate Britain and the current Big Show: a retrospective of Francis Bacon, not my favorite painter, but there you are. Jerry, having watched the guy interviewed on a ...
London, United Kingdom lrandal... London and a bus full of Americans tourists with flashing cameras stops in the nearby vicinity, you're generally somewhere famous. Turns out I was standing outside the front of Harrods. With my bearings regained, I walked down to South Kensington and am now awaiting a phone call to go out with another one of Ben's mates, Jules. Hoping to do a tour of Greenwich tomorrow, then sort my stuff out on Wednesday for the big trip to Scotland on Thursday.
London, England, United Kingdom jojomo... We intend spending most of Monday in Vatican City and have already bought tickets to jump the queues into the museums and Sistine Chapel. We fly home really late on Tuesday so have a full day to sightsee. What we will do is undecided at the moment, we'll see how it goes. So, the euros have been bought and there are only 5 days left of work until the glorious half term holiday. I knew there was a reason I went into teaching!...
London, United Kingdom vicki001... entertain me!". We spent the day meandering slowly and not doing alot. Packed up some more of the house and had a quiet night in. We should make the most of drinking, though. Not only do we have about 10 bottles of wine to get through before we go (anybody fancy popping round?!) but Katya (Kat's friend) has warned us about drinking up at serious altitude with her own story of going blind the morning after. Now ...
