My Legs are a Hurtin'

... wife waves goodbye with her tears and wind blown handkerchief; wiping away the thick red lipstick and face full of bright pancake...that thought came to mind but when you look about more, Kings Cross Station has an assortment of local characters - that I reckon would rob you blind if you gave them half a chance. Southwark Cathedral. This is the 3rd biggest Cathedral in London behind St Paul's and Westminster Abbey. This church is brilliant ...

From rich to poor in 20 hours.

... full of job seekers, but they have no jobs to offer. 13Feb, 2009, Day 23 Laying low, applying for jobs. Don't want to go out and spend any money. 14th Feb, 2009, Day 24 We went shopping for warm woollies today. Carroll took us to the bogan suburbs where no body is ever too young to have a baby, where every second guy thinks he's a rapper, and where it is mandatory you where ugg boots instead of shoes. Naturally, shopping here was cheap and we found some warm bargains. Joss ...

Happy Birthday to Me! Eh...

... have sucked more. Also, my roommate did take me out for Thai food (my new favorite thing) before I moved out. She was the other person who was laid off and she spent the rest of the day packing. I'm actually a bit glad I left now. Some of the part timers don't seem like they'll fit in very well. They also seriously ****** off the other full timers. We work also with a married couple who were being trained to be managers. They ...

Getting there

... most of the group had either drank their money away (my friends) or misplaced their money (bras are terrible places for safe keeping!) we had to rely on the kindness and drunkenness of strangers to pay are fare. Finally, on day 7 we made our way towards the airport, but as our navigator and passenger were still drunk and drinking soup out of cans, we narrowly avoided missing the flight. I also bought the cheapest tickets I could find to the Netherlands, so I flew to Ireland and ...

London Sight seeing

... was even with 3 lifts you waited forever for them and we were on the 10th floor so no stairs for me! A work collegue was really nice to give me a lift to the airport to pick him up Monday night. His flight was about 20 mins late so we ended up waiting over an hour for him to come out but it was great when he finally did.

London ,UK

... back, met someone on the bus, that told me where I needed to be and offered to call me a taxi. Londoners are sooooo nice ! Funny, that happened a couple of times on my last trip here. Learn from your mistakes !!!!! My hotel is about an hour outside of London in Wembley. Funny, the brochure said ten minutes to London by tube. Wait, I think that was the Hilton Hotel website ! I can see Wembly Stadium from my hotel ...

Away From the City

... background to thank for that straightforwardness...but perhaps it is natural? I was very flattered though, as I suddenly remembered the rebellious two-some I had to teach when I was 21 and failed both miserably. It was very flattering also to be called chef at work, I've never had the pleasure of hearing it myself and it was sincere as well. Of course, it could have easily had to do with the issue of my colleagues inabilities pronouncing my ...

Off I go....into the great (semi)unknown again....

... but somehow makes the trip feel more familiar -  and you try to make yourself look more presentable by trying to brush your hair with a small bendy comb and put on some more deoderant - which of course is in a container that contains less than 100 mls, and therefore is impossible to get any deoderant out of,  and wash your face with the bathroom soap which just ends up making your face feel more dirty than before) in the bathroom.  There I find that I have been wearing ...

London - The Initial Long Story with Cliffs notes.

... just like the rest of the Japanese tourists. HUGE parade ground out back, you'd be exhausted marching up and down that one! Cannon out the back too. · Trafalgar Square : Can't quite fit Nelson's Column into a photo, he's standing on one mighty tall pole that fella. Each time I've been past there is either a protest or they are setting up/partaking in/taking down some festival. · Southbank: Great walk ...

We Found a Job

On Thanksgiving Day we found a job in TNT magazine. It was a live-in pub job south of London. The ad was looking for a chef and a waitress. I called the pub and told them that I had worked in a kitchen in the States (I had been in a kitchen) and Michelle had waited tables for years (true). So we chatted a little, they said we could make 300 pounds a week and have a free place to stay with free food. This was Thursday evening at ...
