... his white dinner jacket, black trousers, black shirt and white bow tie. Our team performed admirably in the syndicate quiz finishing 1st equal on 17 points. However we lost out on the tie-break. The question was "How long was the Hundred Years' War"? There were 3 teams in the tiebreak. We thought 113 years and the other 2 teams went for 65 and 114 years. Incidentally, this is why I was confused at seeing a lot of Roman artefacts in a medieval castle. The 18th century saw the War of the Spanish Succession which placed the island under Spanish control. During the Spanish Civil War, the island was a Nationalist stronghold and backed by Fascist Italy. The Nationalists resisted a Republican attack ...

Palma, Mallorca

A travel blog entry by eliandvicky on Mar 29, 2014

Today we reached Mallorca. We visited the cathedral of Mallorca which is on a hill and overlooks the sea. The views up there are breathtaking. The cathedral itself is quite big with lots of rooms full of artefacts to explore. Inside, they have one very unusual altar designed in 2008 and it depicts the creation of the world. It's very modern and not like anything we have seen so far. It kind of looked out of place with all the old antique items ...
