... favourite, with the cathedral's plain ceiling covering a series of smaller shrines, including that of St Cuthbert. Back outside, we visited the Cathedral Library via the cloisters. A librarian (a Kiwi) gave us an impromptu chat about the 13th century building, which used to house the refectory and the dormitories. Went back through the cobble paved alleys of town. Day 10
... But it's gradually become more natural to speak English again. As for getting up to speed with new words and phrases, I think the only one I'll take with me is "pop-up shop" (in my day, we just called it a market and weren't too fussy about whether it was temporary or permanent). Airports and aeroplanes
... my bag i discover that i've smuggled a banana in to the country! Me and James exchange a few funny stories via text which make me giggle and passes the time. I killed a few hours watching Cool runnings on my lap top and then more of my friends in the UK started to wake up so I made the most of the free wifi and chatted to people on Facebook. ... concept of not having both double glazing and central heating (many, as I do, have triple glazing and very efficient central heating, especially in urban areas) so I understand why some of you may be scratching your heads in puzzlement. But this is the reality for many in the UK, and a lot of older people suffer a great deal each winter due to a lack of insulation, heating and adequate glazing.
