We arrived in Amersfoort Netherlands after a 5hour train ride from Berlin, it was a great way to see the country side and it didn't feel like it took that long - was a really easy train ride! Leo and Joke were waiting at the train station and after saying our hellos etc we were in our way to Stellendam our home for the next week! Day one we spent the day doing much needed washing and catching up with ourselves the last two weeks have been non stop so it was so nice to give ourselves a ...

... We had four taxis, 6 in each. They were really nice, spacious vans, and ours accommodated Phil’s rollator (he has Parkinson’s) and then an old geezer and I, with our canes, sat in the first row of seats. It worked out well.

It was about a 30 minute drive, and unlike the buses that would drop you off a long walk from the city center, the taxis were able to drop us off and pick us up right on the Markt (sic) ...

... Basilica built in 1892. We have noticed that some of the smaller towns and bigger villages have enormous churches that the devoted must have put thousands of money and lots of energy to create these incredible churches, but some are now converted into apartments and music venues etc and no longer anything to do with religions at all, so it was good to see at least one in its magnificence. It is built of white (like Portland) stone and as a replica of St ...
