Today I bus to Frankfurt. I've been there before a long time ago when I worked for Penguins doing the book fair. I'd seen a little of the city then but it has grown in stature since and is more of a financial hub. It laden with foreigners it's not unlikeable though and has a lively atmosphere. Like Berlin there are some amazing smells around the city but also like ...

... which was having some renovations. The Gothic cathedral and municipal parish church is Munich's unmistakable landmark with its "onion towers". We emerged at Marienhof and saw Neues Rathaus, what an epic building. The New Town Hall was completed in 1909 in Neo-Gothic style. We walked through the building to Marienplatz and here we took up a position to watch the glockenspiel at 12:00. Up to three times a day it shows the wedding between Herzog Wilhelm ...

... out and a pleasant view of the city. As with most European cities, the actual area of Frankfurt is small relative to its population. It continues to baffle me that Canadian cities (note builders) get away with more sprawl in the name of individual choice when we sacrifice so many other inefficiencies for it.

Also every cab here is a Mercedes. As you would expect 90%+ of the cars are German makes. They also buy way more station wagons.

          Hope you enjoyed!
