Another super site, Alpen (€53 a night) with a new pool / sauna complex (v smart). We're up in the mountains so I think it will be chilly when the sun drops. The pitches are terraced, we're on the 2nd level on a 'comfort panorama' pitch . We get electric & a tap and a view from where I am sitting of the mountains - ...

... gate that was guarded by a dozen or so cows, all with cowbells around their necks making an enormous racket. They paid us next to no attention as we passed through the gate. Shortly we came up to the first hut, but it was closed. No matter, there were more. ... if I mentioned it in my last blog, but I was running an unofficial "carbonara test" as we passed each restaurant - since they pretty much all serve spaghetti carbonara, it's a quick way of finding out if the restaurant is good value or not - once you've added in the cover charge anyway. ... seeing Venice on TV or in films. Speaking of films, we witnessed a bit of a horror film whilst we were sat down taking in St Marks Square. A seagull was flying in our direction, with something very large in its beak. So big was it's find, that it was struggling to gain altitude to enjoy its meal. As it got closer, the tasty morsel became clearer. The seagull had caught a pigeon. Unfortunately the seagull lots its battle with gravity, and settled in the busiest square in Italy to ...
