... a place I always wanted to visit. Our plans were to visit eastern block countries, but the trip to Austria was a nice change. You can easily see the differences of western influence. Vienna is a world class city of 1.8 million. It has a strong heritage of the arts; both music & paintings. There are numerous gallery's & museums which you can visit. Music concerts daily ...

Once back I checked the dryer and it was done but most things were not yet dry. The clothes that were almost dry I took out to hang up in the closets. I was woken up at 8:00 by the rain pouring on the roof of our penthouse. Derek was up at 8:45, Erin at 9:00 and I woke Larry up at 9:15 in hopes that the rain would quit. It did not. We spent a lazy morning writing blogs, reading and surfing the internet. The rain started to abate a little about 11:00. The highlight of the morning was the 11:30 arrival of the steam train on the tracks by our apartment. We watched from the balcony. We ...

      Back to Austria?

A travel blog entry by rolandandlinda on Sep 18, 2014

Time to leave Valle Verde. Decided to give Austria
another try as we are hearing that the weather has improved. However, with low
cloud this morning, there is little point in going over the high Dolomite
      passes.

Decided to go north through Moena and then west over a lower
pass to Bolzano. As expected, the low cloud made for little viewing of the
      mountain peaks.

Went north to Bressanone but stayed on a ...
