... this hotel, so I knew what kind of room to get and what to expect from the hotel.

    Public Transport

If you're flying in, your best bet is to get the Alilaguna boat service from Marco Polo Airport to the hotel (€15 per person), as it stops a few hundred yards down from the hotel, and as a female I do not travel lightly, so I was pleased that it wasn't that far to walk. Wet, wet, wet.....however we are in Venice and on our way to the hotel we stopped at a traditional pizzarea. Ate a bella meal and drank liquorice shots with the owners at the end of the night. Definitely warmer walking in the rain. Slept in a sauna of a room and am sure the bed was secretly connected to a thermal spring. Get ...

... up and down stairs and trying to read or listen to instructions in foreign languages. Arrived at Venice 6:30pm and then caught a Vaporetto to San Marco. It was wonderful to be on the water with the cooling breeze after the heat of an Italian summers day. The next challenge was locating the apartment where we are staying; it's a couple of minutes walk from San Marco - if you know the location, otherwise allow about half an hour! ...
