... skies. The bike rental shop opened at 9:00 and, miraculously, I held myself back from being that woman in the classic Mervyn's commercial, tapping on the doors and chanting, "Open. Open. Open."

Winding my way along the back roads, bike route map in hand, I pedaled the 12 km to Keukenhof. Passing the daffodil and hyacinth fields, I was wishing I could find a way to transport the smell to all of you. Heavenly!

It is so very easy to get around ...

... me to several years ago) on the menu. It was a lot a fun and a very cool spot to enjoy a delicious Belgian blonde (beer). The ride back was refreshing and I felt much better about drinking all this good beer considering the ride home required quite a bit of physical exertion. I was still getting used to my new ride and needed a few minor adjustments but I knew we were going to become fast friends! Time for bed...gotta rest up for the weekend!!!!

... upon Les Fines Gueules, a highly recommended deli, and made lunch reservation. We then hoofed it down to the Musee Toulouse Lautrec, and took a too hurried tour of same. We split up and were to meet for lunch at noon. I got very, very, lost but did find the restaurant eventually. After a fabulous lunch, we drove the slooooow route to Carcassonne. Finding our lodging was a challenge, but here we are on the terrace, dining on Trader Joe's cashews and tater chips --- ...

... to us it felt like they were standing over us to collect the rubbish so the plane could land.

The hotel is, ermm, quirky. Probably typically Dutch (see the photo!), open plan with the shower and toilet in your room, but nice enough. Bed is pretty comfy, kirsty is asleep already so must be, either that or the Heinekan went to her head quickly!!

Got a few hours in Amsterdam this afternoon ...
