... is now a memorial, which consists of many empty bookcases below ground (enough to house the 20,000 books which were burnt) There's a plaque which holds a quote from one of the authors that was burnt that night , Heinrich Hine which translates to "Where they burn books, they will in the end also burn people". This was actually a quote about the Spanish Inquisition which Heine had written in 1821. Shows how history repeats itself.
