Xonrupt-Longemer to Friedrichshafen 170 miles France empty, Germany full. That was a hard, tense drive. But first, apologies to Guy in France. Yes indeed, that was Vosges. We were turned away from the campsite as it was full but they told us we could park for 12 hours around where the swimming pool carpark was. Perfect. We have everything we need so a free camp was great. After so much moving and travelling we were a bit tired but we decided to still jump on our bikes to explore Constance and to do so means you ride from Switzerland into Germany and back in an afternoon. After lunch we went to a Palace where Napoléon III spent much of his childhood and was exiled to in Arenenberg, Switzerland. The grounds were exceptional and the view was great. ... through. Unfortunately there are few photos from the ridge with the camera staying in the backpack. With my eyes focused on Anja's feet I don't think the photos would have been much good anyway.
