Wake up with the alarm at 05:00 and Jai steams the rice whilst I make a cuppa then load up the bike. Only a small bag for clothes etc but a second case is full of books to sell/exchange somewhere.
Get to Phon Thong about 6:30 and after checking the house where we leave the bike I drop Jai and bags off at the bus station before returning to …

Up at 5:30 for a quick breakfast and to check our packing of everything that we need and by 6:30 are biking into town along with 2 suitcases and a rucksack - my fault as one case is filled with books. Drop Jai off at the bus station with our baggage and then take the bike to the house where we are leaving it. I was expecting to have to walk back to …

This city is great if you like a cheap room, no tourist activities or attraction whatsoever, maybe get some paint or repair your bike. Otherwise.... we are bored, it's 30+ degrees in a place that does not have much. We found the national museum which sound promising until the front ...

Although there was a language barrier and we did not always get the exact answers we wanted, it was cool to sit down and hear elders recall their life in Lawa Lake village or to hear teenagers talk about their day to day life. Getting pricey

Have been staying here a couple of times a year for about 9 years now. Hotel is always clean, comfortable and welcoming. Rooms are quite large and well appointed. Fan rooms are a bit run down but aircon rooms have recently undergone a tidy up process. Our room had been decorated but I have to say with cheap accessories. Will probably continue to stay here when we pass through Khon Kaen but at 600Bht it is starting to price itself too high for a provincial town.
