Monday 25th November 2013

  • Worst nights sleep I've had for a long, long time! The roads were unbearable, full of potholes the size of craters! It was more like a motor-cross track, the bus bouncing around all over the place with various squeaking noises coming from the bus. Plus, the wasn't really enough space on the bed for 2 large Westerners and our bags!
  • Managed to grab some kip before waking at 6am, stopped for a curry breakfast at around 9am. Bus carried on until ...

... thought better of it. We carried on walking through the forest whilst being confronted with many, many small water falls and streams. The last few K was mostly quite flat or shallow up/ down hills so it was nice and relaxed. We arrive at our new place about 4pm. I would normally hesitate to go to a zoo in a developing country after one disturbing experience in Bolivia but this zoo was not too bad, just some of the cages seemed to small. We saw Himalaya animals like snow leopar, tiger, black bear, monkeys etc. But mostly we have not been doing too much just drinking tea and relaxing around. ... or so trying to get the rhythm and we eventually got it. We sounded awful at first, I dont know how we didnt disrupt the Monks chanting and drumming! We kept this drummiung up for 5 mins or so before I got too unconfortable. It was good fun for a few minutes but I'd had enough. ... a rare commodity in Nepal) we headed back to Deepak's and got stuck into our afternoon snack. By the time Samyog returned home from school we'd demolished one whole block and had started our second. Since cheese is also a rather limited commodity, Samyog doesn't really share our enthusiasm for it, although he was very happy to munch away on the biscuits.
