... it is where the Pope visits to place flowers at the statue of the BVM in front of the Spanish Embassy. I’ll make my way in that direction later this afternoon as I would like to make it to evening prayers at the Les Fraternites Monestiques de Jerusalem. I’ll recount that visit on my next blog. Leaving Assisi
... I want to come back here! One of the striking things about Assisi is how clean it is. People here take a pride in the way their city looks. Very few dog poos on the footpath, unlike Paris. As well as their buildings they take pride in their food. We have never come across so many restaurants and cafes and pasterias. And the cakes! We had to exercise a great deal of restraint not to pig out every day, ...
Last day in Assisi
... So today we chatted to all three girls on Viber and Skype, as well as their cousin Bec who soon heads off overseas for 3 months. Visit to San Damiano
... and glass of wine. One of the things we have been trying to do here is to stop, to listen and to slow down. This is why we decided to spend a week in Assisi and not rush from tourist spot to tourist spot. We have valued getting to know some locals and a little more Italian. Meeting St. Francis
