Meaning, up and onto the pedestrian path, two wheels and a bit still on the road, requiring the kind Italian drivers to manouvre around me. Oh, it's done all the time and it was only for two minutes, maximum!

The difficulty in driving was evident in the time taken to negotiate 28kms, almost one hour. The GPS confirmed that so we knew ...

... teachers wandered into the piazza. Followed shortly after by civic officials, flags, banner and wreaths.

As luck would have it, just outside the hairdressers, there is a plague erected on the wall, commemorating "Panicale's fallen" during First and Second World Wars

When the officials arrived they all gathered in front of this plague, right outside the hairdresser's!

... in and quick dinner - and early to bed. Well, such are the plans of mice and men.....several bottles of Umbrian red later (well....we had to say goodbye!), ALL the left overs of which there was enough for the entire village...and several hours of going through the photos and blog and laughing ourselves hoarse...we ended up with about three hours sleep to begin our 35 plus hours of return travel.

But as they say in the Classics.....you only live once.
