Daskop Road Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa, 6620, 27-(0)44-251-6191
Efter en uge i Plettenburg og et par dage i George tog vi til Oudtshorn hvor vi er nu. Oudtshorn er verdens strudsehovedstad, hvilken titel.
Vi er blevet taget godt imod paa vores nuvaerende hostel. Bartenderen her har saagar taget os med i byen to gange.
Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa dahlbom... Polo enjoyed it so much,
although we did see one couple trying to do it in a tiny Ford Ka.

Eventually we left the nature reserve and got back on a tarmac road. It was dead
straight and perfectly smooth again so I let the car recover from the hill climb and go at it's own pace, in no time we were at the turn off for the Meringspoort pass. This pass is on a tarmac road and it was fun to drive round all the bends. About half way up we stopped to look at
the waterfall. It was ...
Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa frontal... protect them as a ecological site and stopped ruining them. I think I would have liked to hear a concert down here, as the acoustics are excellent, but would not like to share a cave with only one exit with thousands of people.

When the tour ends we go back to the car and drive to Wilgewandel holiday farm, so Eden can ride a camel, but when we get there she is asleep so we don't stay long. On the way back we see a signpost for Rust &Vrede, which is a waterfall ...
Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa frontal... was more comical than anything else and I think the "riding" part was more a contest of how long I could actually stay on the ostrich before falling off (which ended up being about 45 seconds). I spent the night at a really nice guest/ farmhouse sort of place and then this morning went to the Cango Caves. The caves were really something. Although not the biggest I've been to, I think the formations here were more spectacular than those I've seen anywhere else.
Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa danwstephens... souvenirs (idiots). Our guide showed us stumps of stalagtites that had been broken off, considering they take 100 years to grow 7mm, it would take about 1000 years for them to grow back to their original length. Perhaps these people simply couldn't get their heads around that, or were too ****** to care. The Ostrich farm was so much more impressive than I could have imagined. We held a day old baby and hugged a less ...
Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa stephen.j.booth... cheetahs, and to cap it off we swam with crocodiles which are the second deadliest animals to humans. The tigers were pretty fun and the caretaker was having them suck his thumb. Rachel asked if she could do it.....he chuckled. I think that meant NO. He said she'd almost certainly lose her thumb trying that since the tigers don't know her at all. The cheetahs were real sweet creatures. They snuggled up next to us like a domesticated cat, licked our arms, and even gave ...
Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa ramrtw... park to pet some big cats! The drive to Oudtshoorn was along Route 62, amazing scenery and some very winding mountain dirt roads, breathtaking stuff. The highlight was definitely the Cango Wildlife Park - its a zoo but with a difference, they let you in the cages (once you show the dosh at least!) We chose tiger ...
Oudtshoorn, South Africa colm-and-gra... the dark! I enjoyed the day, but there was some pretty small holes and gaps to squeeze through and I'm not quite sure how some people in my group managed to get through as I was struggling sometimes.

After my brief stay in Oudtshoorn I headed to Cape Town. I met back up with my mate Chris so it was good to see him again. So far I have been to the Cape of Good Hope and the Peninsula (I even did a bit of biking ...
Oudtshoorn, Western Cape, South Africa vickicooper... see a crocidile jump right out of the water for a piece of raw meat that one of the workers was holding. We also saw what are called pigmy hippos. They are about a tenth the size of regular hippos, smaller than some of the baby hippos we have seen. They are very aggressive and dangerous just like the larger ones though. Hard to believe because they look so cute. We also saw a rare type of Otter, as well as ...
Oudtshoorn, South Africa audreyandjack... thing and then hopped off with all the grace one can when dismounting an ostrich and bounced back over to the waiting throng. Then it was O's turn, he climbed up and then was just let go! He managed to get a couple of feet before he fell off and narrowly missed landing in a pile of ostrich poo. Not quite so impressive as Ms. M but then funnier still was when S had a go and was thrown off pretty much straight away! Very very amusing. Before the ostrich farm though O, S ...
