... sad to leave such a comfortable and enjoyable place. It was largely due to her that we had such a wonderful time in NYC. We left about 9.30am and the first 3 hours or so of the drive through upper New York was absolutely spectacular - the highway was bordered by hills and forests of trees in the most gorgeous autumn foliage, filled with brilliant colours just like ...

... are basically underneath looking up. Just fabulous. But very wet!

After the Caves (which actually weren't cave anymore but still), we headed back to the Observation Deck to get a final view of the Falls before crossing back to Canada. Great nachos and a yummy burger later, I bought a few souvenirs, and we headed back to the hotel with very full tummies!!

The tour group then headed back to Buffalo airport where we hoed-in to a dinner of Buffalo Wings (as you do!).

Late night flight back to JFK/NY wrapped up a very long, exciting, and spectacular day trip.
Again a late night as we were placed in a 15 minute holding pattern while President Obabma's Air-force 1 took off from the runway. Apparently he is not allowed to share.
We watched his plane go up and then we could ...

... 1677, earlier than Kalm, after traveling with the explorer René Robert Cavelier, Sieur de la Salle, thus bringing the falls to the attention of Europeans. Further complicating matters, there is credible evidence that the French Jesuit Reverend Paul Ragueneau visited the falls some 35 years before Hennepin's visit, while working among the Huron First Nation in Canada. Jean de Brébeuf also may have visited the falls, while spending time with the Neutral Nation.
