... where we picked out a canoe! A red headed guy who was seriously proud of being an Air Force vet (a young vet, and a linguist) drove us down the river and let us off. It was a beautiful sail. Not hard to row (at least where I was, in the back. Sonia may have had a harder time in the front) and not too hot. We saw ducks, birds, a heron and TURTLES!!!! GOD DANGED TURTLES. They were so cute. ... you what a popular place they are, that there's so much extra being built. Also very religious. There's a basilica right beside the dome and a recreated Lourdes grotto behind that. Everyone prays. Mary and Moses are everywhere. The painting on the inside ceiling of the dome is Mary ascending into heaven (no toenails), and the point on the top of the dome is not a point.
