The Last Days in Orlando - NASA and Beyond

We decided that we needed a day off to work on our colds and get better. We got a phone call later in the morning to say that our passports were in the hands of management and we could go and get them when we wanted. This was very good news and a load of our minds. We got out of bed later in the afternoon and went to get our passports. We picked them up and went back to our hotel as we had a booking for dinner at a Japanese Restaurant. We had a really nice dinner and it was wonderful. We then...

A wonderful place to stay

from A TripAdvisor Member
I loved this place. It was so close to everything on International Drive. You could walk to many attractions. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I would stay there again. The rate were very reasonable.

I'm surprised it's only a two star.

Loved it

Been twice, great value for money

We've stayed in this hotel for the last two years and find it excellent value for money. The rooms were always clean and the pool is great. The best part of this hotel is definately the bar, which has a great jukebox, and the Shogun restaraunt - a japanese steakhouse. The food here is superb! The breakfast is a little over priced for what you get, especially as there are various all-you-can-eat buffet restaraunts, all around, that are cheaper. The free shuttle bus is excellent, if overcrowded, and it's very near Universal Studios and City Walk. The last bus fron City Walk is about 2a.m. so we made the most of it. The only thing that lets this hotel down, is the tackiness of the immediate area.

Just fine

I got a deal on United for this property for only $31.00 per night. I stayed for 4 nights. I was on the 9th floor, the hallway smelled like ciggerates, but the room did not. I had fresh towels, the room was clean, I had a TV and a VCR, I had a mini fridge, and a Microwave. I had a all you can eat buffet for $4 including tax and tip. I could see Islands of Adventures right accross the street on my left, and Wet n Wild water park on my right from my window in my room. They had a nice pool as well. I would deffinatley stay her again. For the money I spent, I think i got first class accomodations.

Staff atitude

from A TripAdvisor Member
I thought the Rodeway hotel was great value for money with many choices of entertainment and spacious rooms. However the staff seem to have a negative atitude at the front desk and lack the necessery skills that is need. The maintanence can hardly communicate in english. The hoel is great it could be better with a greater staff!

Mislead by Rave Reviews

Cautious at the low prices for this hotel from Expedia, I consulted Tripadvisor and read a few reviews. The majority really rated this hotel, and I went for it thinking we'd hardly be in the room over the course of a one week stay. My advice: DO believe the people who tell you the rooms are fusty and musty and over used. The bathroom is minute, the washbasin stained and the corridors....smell. The pluses are that clean towels arrive every day, a cheap and wholesome breakfast is available and there is a nice salad restaurant down I Drive. It's also a great distance from Universal. If you plan to stay here it is just a bed in a good location. You will be buying cans and cans of air freshener from the next door supermarket so budget it in to the vacation!

Should have gone elsewhere

We booked though Expedia and requested a king size non smoking room, when we got there they said, "oh you booked on-line" as if we stepped in something walking in the building. We didn't get a king size because they were all gone, and they only had one that was in smoking which we didn't take. The windows don't open which is a disappointment because the room was musty. One night it got chilly and we tried to put the heat on, and it smelled like hair burning in a hair dryer, and it set the smoke alarm off so we had to turn it right off and double up on the blankets from the double beds. The shower was excellent execept they don't provide shampoo, or conditioner so we had to go and purchase some. The pool is very nice but they close it if it begins to rain. Their restaurants looked dirty so we didn't eat there. They have a ATM on site so that was nice. Every night we were bombarded by pizza menus under the door, it became a game on how many were going to be there when we woke up in the morning. It is very close to restaurants, and small convenience stores. You can throw a rock and hit wet and wild it's so close, and Universal Studios is only a mile away. It's about 45 minutes to Disney if you go during rush hour. We were unhappy about the bed situation and they wouldn't accomadate us, and turned several people away when they tried extend their visits.

Worth the money

Once again another Welsh person to stay at the Rodeway Hotel and found it great value. Having stayed at this Hotel for the past five years that must say siomething for the quality of it. I have stayed at the Omni Rosen Hotel at the end of Int. Drive and this was great but not as welcoming as the Rodeway. The rooms are basic yet clean and fresh. The staff at the hotel like the majority of people in Orlando cannot do enough for you and the resturant and Bar is great value. The Breakfasts may not be as large as the Ponderosa across the road but it does keep the choices up and the chances of a waistline increase is reduced. I have just booked to go back again this year and will be staying there again. There is no where in the world like Orlando and no better place to stay in the middle of I. Drive. Oh and Wet and Wild is across the raod so you can either be at the hotel pool or walk 200 yards to one of the best Water Parks in Orlando. Have a great Stay cos I know you will.

Great
