... the campsite, I get talking to a girl called Alisha who is from Australia and is a singer and musician but is currently travelling Iceland amongst other countries. She has been here a few weeks and has successfully got around the country by hitchhiking, and has had a great number of experiences and met a lot of people this way. I find this impressive and inspiring in a way, and hopefully I will have the courage and motivation to try something similar while I am here.

... practically part of the road! It was a 26 mile drive through this part of the Pacific Ring of Fire that combines some of the life found in the Cascades and some of the life typical to the Sierra Nevada range.

We jumped onto route 395 and continued to Reno. The landscape was desert highlands peppered with dry scrub brush. We passed a huge, dead, bloated cow that somebody hit and left on the side of the road..legs poking straight up...ewww. ...

... joggers, and bikers everywhere. After lunch we drove east on I-80 and then north on NV Rt. 447 to Pyramid Lake and scenic drives along the lake shore. The lake is so named because of a rock formation, that when viewed from the southern shore looks exactly like a large pyramid. ... here and there. There were dilapidated and fully modern homes along the route that dappled the cliffside, right along the Comstock mines.

We parked off the main street and were able to get an unobstructed view of the mountains and valleys in the distance. There were two graveyards off in the distance, along with a beautiful church. We walked along the back road and observed the "behind the scenes" ...
