On Long Island Beach, there is one main North-South road. In the height of "season" the traffic is very heavy from early in the day 'til late. It wasn't bad today. All the stores are having end of season sales.

Atlantic City with Susy and family. Left early and drive 2 hours. Had lunch at a burger place while the family had Panda Express. Lay by the beach for a while. Had a quick swim. Played kick the ball with the kids. Walked along the boardwalk. Had funnel cake. Waaay too sugary! Had pizza slice and chicken parma with pasta and salad and baked potatoes. Drove back around 8. Had ice cream sandwich on the way ...

Red oak and of course pine trees were abundant. We thought we smelled Lilac trees, but later found out they were Sweet Pepperbush. We saw some Highbush blueberry plants, Bayberry, Virginia Chain Ferns, and tons of other trees and plants which we never identified, as well as a turtle in the lake, tons of robins, a woodpecker and a few ...
... Initial Opinion - I haven't used this yet, but I did try the striker to see how easy it was. Initially, it was difficult, until you rub off the coating on the ferrocerium shaft, then it's easy to produce a nice spark. I chose this particular fire starter because unlike the other similar one they had at REI, this one has a built in waterproof storage compartment for tinder (cotton balls) and a whistle, which is always nice.
