I actually suspected that it might be themed for tourists looking for the 'real thing' but after spending about 5 hours in there (!) we hung out with the locals and found out a lot of history and got a great feel for the place. We got to NYC last night and easily caught a taxi to our apartment. Matthew, the owner of the apartment, met us and gave us the tour. It is the bottom floor of a brownstone 4 story house in Harlem at 137th street. We unpacked and went to bed... Which was a bit freaky it was a memory foam mattress which was quite different to a normal mattress... ...
