Today was a day of touring and seeing lots along the way. At Cactus Flats, SD we entered the area known as the Badlands. Il faut donc quitter les grandes forêts indiennes, mais pour retrouver un autre de leurs lieux sacrés, Devil'sTower. Un monolithe de plus de 380m de haut, qui à la surface d'un terrain de football au sommet!

... The Indian memorial looks like a burial mound from the outside with the centre taken out and pathways cut in so you can get to it. Walking into it it felt 'sacred' - I later found out that there are prayers said there by the Indians June 5th each year for World Peace. There is a beautiful wire sculpture (see picture) overlooking where the indians attacked the hill from.

Starting back.......Traveled thru the Bighorns on our way to Gillette. They were incredible. Had to stop for a herd of cattle that cowboys were rounding up and driving them on horseback to the transport trucks. Just had to stop and wait patiently. They still have to ride and find the cattle the on horseback.......the same way they did it 100 years ago.

... the Friday night final night, suppose to have a 24 inch shell and a huge fireball , and some other spectaculer works, we will stay all 5 nighrts next 5 year to be sure its raining and cold here tonight, glad we are pointing our car south, cause altho this is a nice place to visit no way Id want to ever spend another winter here as long as I live!!!!

French girls saved me as they led me back to the lodge as I was very lost they didnt speak english and I dont speak French , but they got me back safely, all my family knew I was in Europe, woulnt have a clue to look for me as I only called every 2 weeks, we stopped the Coop and saw my cousin Debbie today also, am going to fireworks tonight, hope to see some family out there

Tonight we ate at a really good restraunt in Gillette called the Chop House, Susie and I shared a filet, we went to the fire works ameture competion, The anouncer said that Dicovery Chanel was there all week filming for a upcoming show on fireworks, after Supper we visited my moms cousin wife, Shirley.

... out with My ffriends who treat us to lunch at Susies favorite place China cafe, there daugther Lisa and granddaughter Brooklyn who is same age as Haeley was with them . We stoped by My Great aunt Alice who is in her 90s and is still doing very well. My couison Eddie went to the fireworks with us Sunday nt. he may go again Wed night.

We had originally booked four nights in Yellowstone National Park but after two nights we checked out early. We were at Lake Yellowstone Hotel and were so disappointed in the accommodations and mostly the food options that we left. Ok, so you have the magnificent scenery and geysers and mud pits, etc. And buffalos, antelope and bears. But you also have tour buses, crowds, traffic, etc. The hotels are expensive and run ...
