... kibosh on my Cook Islands to Samoa voyage. So I'm currently sat in Los Angeles airport, half-way through a 11-hour stop over, deciding what to do with a suddenly rather empty upcoming schedule. I have 3 days in Tonga, 3 days in the Cook Islands then nothing until the 9th July. Then, while flicking through my Lonely ...
Los Angeles Airport, California, United States rob.alsmith... Newport Beach. We manage to take around 2 hours for this 30 mile or so drive unintentionally taking what we can only describe as "not the most direct route". In Newport beach we wander around "Fashion Island" which is a modern and very very nicely planned mall (but also a little expensive). The drive from Newport beach to Oceanside is along the Pacific highway and passes Laguna Beach and Dana Point amongst others. Oceanside looks like a nice place on first ...
Los Angeles, United States mel07pink... great, fell asleep for a cuple of hours and woke up and it was SNOWING! Real flakes and everything, both of us have seen snow but never seen it falling! Was very cool and just watched it for ages! Once we got to Hollywood, after a good 7 and a half hours on the bus we walked to our hostel, we thought it was a bit closer but, oops it wasnt and ...
Hollywood, California, United States richandleight... in the late 1940s and now live at Uplands, about 60 miles East of LA. Despite being in their eighties, they still have a great zest for life and gave us a great time. On the Sunday, as a special treat for Anne, we visited Hollywood and our photos show what fun we had. We were then taken out for a meal before being delivered to LAX airport for our gruelling overnight flight to the Cook Islands for 5 days of blissful relaxation on a tropical beach.

LA, California, United States sianey... repeatedly in the cave tour. Good photos, great battery life. - Dave loved the Osprey Waypoint 80 backpack! Very comfortable, roomy, convenient. Keli found her backpack to be an annoyance may use a normal rolling suitcase for Asia, she's not sure yet. So, what do we love in traveling? - Very fun, unique, memorable experiences ("Peak ...
Los Angeles, California, United States davekeli... are ancient pits that ooze tar from oil deposits below the surface. The most amazing thing about the pits is that they look like water pools as the water sits on top of the tar. During the Ice Age many animals became stuck in the pools after attempting to drink. Often other animals came to feed on the partly submerged bodies of other animals and themselves became stuck. The ancient pools are now part of a small park and look incredibly incongruous set amongst the ...

Los Angeles, California, United States johnsinclair... the well-known Sunset Strip. Towards the end of the tour we halted at Rodeo Drive for half an hour so that we could walk from one end to the other, gazing with total lack of interest at glitzy shops like Tiffany's and Armani. The guide told us that we might be lucky enough to spot a star! My fellow Australian was convinced that he had seen Telly Savalas, however his conviction turned to uncertainty when I told him that Telly was no ...
