Three years ago we covered the epic Route 66 from LA to Chicago, the early parts of the route in California we found to be some of the best, so today we took the opportunity to revisit some of the sights on the Mother Road. I will leave the pictures to tell the story, another great day and another great trip on Main Street.

Man this place is a cheesy tourist's delight.

I guess in the past it was a train station. Now it's full of knick knacks and cheesy things, including a McDonald's in a passenger train car.

It's popular because it's exactly half way between Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

... gereden, een dorpje dat model heeft gestaan voor de film "Cars", maar dat stelde eigenlijk helemaal niets voor, de hele Route 66 trouwens niet! Hele tv programma's worden daar aan gewijd... maar dat zal wel ons gebrek aan fantasie zijn, zullen we maar denken!

... plan is to rise at 4.45am and set off just as the sun comes up so we get a couple of hours of cooler weather and some miles done. We’ve found motels at Roach, 108 miles from here, which will mean that we only have 40 or so miles to do the next day to Vegas. Here we will be enjoying the lap of luxury in a gorgeous hotel booked for us as a wedding present by the very kind Dr Fyfe! Hopefully the thought of the pool will keep us going through the tough times ...
