    ... the lighthouse which was very picturesque. The seascape was everything you would expect in a west coast lighthouse. There were wildflowers, birds, and craggy rock formations. We watched some of the movie at the Visitors Center and took lots of pictures. There was a hike available up a very steep mountain nearby to get an overlook picture of the lighthouse point, but we had lots of plans for the day, and decided it was time to move on.

    ... in their own pens. We saw the Hippopotamous, and took an excursion for a close up encounter after our first drive through the park. The trainer was feeding the Hippo as we arrived and then painted the Hippos nose with blue and green paint to make what she called Hippo Kisses on poster board.

    It was a beautiful day for a drive. The traffic cooperated and the total travel time was about 3 1/2 hours, with several stops enroute to stretch the legs. We passed Eugene and were just ahead of Lee and Claudia, when we stopped for gas in Roseburg. Pulling back on to the freeway, I saw Lee and Claudia drive by. We caught up with them at the next rest stop and traveled the last 10 miles or so ...
