... floods and devastation. A lot has happened while we've been away but we have been proud of the way our state has rebounded and are moving forward.
We're excited to be getting home tomorrow. We’ve been very fortunate through all our travels and have enjoyed sharing our adventures with our friends and family. We’re glad I wrote the blog because it’s already hard to remember some of the names of places we’ve been!
... the 25th year of the German reunification (1989). They were expecting thousands of people in Frankfurt and we actually ( on Saturday night) watched the major event on the TV. Dinner was at a very small local eatery where we had pork and potatoes ( of course) and wine. We sat at long wooden table with benches..family style. A neighborhood German place full of locals and fun to experience. We returned "home" and settled down for the night.
Oh my, what a shock! But let me begin at the beginning When we left Chattanooga, we high tailed it for the Cherohala Skyway. Weather report had suggested there would be bad weather in the afternoon so we tried to beat the weather. Unfortunately it didn't quite work out that way and we didn't get up onto the Skyway before the rain - lots of it came through. What a bummer. We couldn't see the scenery at all and riding ninths driving rain ...
... hot and humid for the competitors. The best way to watch the action from the 18th green is from the air conditioned hospitality tents. The top sponsors this year who had those available were the News-Sentinel, Copper Cellar, and Fleming's Steakhouse, where yours truly hung out with my old childhood friends Ken Canada and Chuck Cavalaris on Championship Sunday. Their food was stupendous, including shrimp, lobster, crab claws, and prime rib.
... don't worry you have a few more hours before you need to start packing!). I'll end by THANKING God for the many good and few bad blessings in my life (they have all made me who I am)......for family and friends who love and encourage me..... for grace and mercy given to me everyday......and for the "God Wink" of the Camino!!!
Please keep us in your prayers for a safe journey.
Blessings and Love to All
