... base of the monument, which was nice seeing as I hadn't got to go walking/hiking in ages. You are able to climb/hike the monument, however you need to register and have a license to be able to do so.
We headed over to the town of Gillette for dinner. Most of the group went to a Chinese buffet, however myself, Amy from France and Claudia from Germany walked over to the supermarket for a microwave dinner instead. Not exactly ...

... makes up the area has eroded before wind and water, but seems to retain shape due to the roots of grass and small bushes that grow in it.

It seemed appropriate that there was a creek about the middle of that stretch called 'Crazy Woman Creek'.

I did photograph one small bit of it, but these ridges were running everywhere and filling the whole picture for miles as I drove:
