... a New Year's Eve in Venice....so I tagged along. It is incredible how long can it take for the time to come around and start your journey. And when you are there, the time flies! I can't wait to begin this year adventure, but until the time comes, I'll wait.
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland wpabon... eaten a cheese fondue, you’ve missed something but the best are in Switzerland because of the excellent and rich cheeses. The conversation turned to the best ingredients of a fondue. This dish is serious business in Switzerland, so opinions are strong about its preparation. People and regions have their preferences about the kinds of cheeses to use. A fondue is always a mix of at least two cheeses and sometimes more. Add some white wine, garlic, eau de ...
Trélex, Vaud, Switzerland joelmeeker... 8220;vacation” was planned. Yes, I had scheduled sketching and homework time before we even left. I should probably stop mentioning things like this in the blog...aaaaanyway, after walking through the museum, which was itself really cool (POW records from WWI, different sensory rooms…I’ve had great luck with museums so far), we did our structural building analysis for a few hours in the café. Once I knew more about the ceiling ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland cmvanacker... the border to Switzerland and found a restaurant to eat at. We had pizza and left a mixture of euros and francs that added up to the total of the bill. I didn't have quite enough euro or quite enough franc to pay the whole bill, but almost enough of both, so I just left a mix. After dinner, we drove back to the hotel and then walked back over the border just to say we did it. We stood on the border for awhile and then walked back to ...

Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland tazzmaniacFor our last weekend getaway before Brian finishes up his work in Toulouse we decided to go to Geneva, Switzerland. Geneva is located between the Alps and the Jura mountains, at the extreme south-west of Switzerland and it sits on the shore of Lake Geneva. From Toulouse the train ride was about 6 hours. We arrived late on Friday night and went straight to our hotel to get a good night's rest before we ...
Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland naslund13... for a new place - even if it is 6 months down the road.
To make matters even more dramatic - in the process of moving everything I own with my clown car (VW Golf) - I had four bags of clothes and shoes stolen from my car while I was making trips to the elevator. Yup. I couldn't believe it. I was shocked. Peaceful little Switzerland seems so safe. To make matters worse nothing is protected under insurance unless you can prove that the car was locked ...
... traffic takes about 1 car every 15 seconds and a lorry every five minutes. This has been true for all places I have visited so far including the more rural areas. Only going off the yellow roads onto the white roads or those not on the map do you get the freedom to daydream as you ride. Without GPS navigation these roads would be impossible to follow (for me at least) as they lack a classification ...
