    ... progressed.

Our accommodation was quite close to the start of the hike to the crater of Stromboli. We thus had brilliant views of the volcano and enjoyed endless views of the ash and smoke pouring out of the top. We could even clearly hear the rumblings. Tonight was my favourite dinner of our trip so far as we enjoyed take-out pizza sitting in the central courtyard of our accommodation looking at the volcano. I told Mum and Dad that ...

... from a boat called Albatross that cabin boy had acquired when getting a guided tour the night before. He has his uses!! As we landed on shore we noticed there was lots of jelly fish who seemed to like basking on the warm springs then beaching themselves to dry out! We had to have the second negroni just to polish off all the nibbles! Then we didn't need dinner, so just had a nice glass of Nero D'Avola to finish (us) off! We've eaten some wonderful Sicilian seafood meals too - it hasn't all been liquid! It's now Friday, and last night we dined ...

After a rushed start we arrived safely at Catania airport with plenty of time to spare - thank you Mt Etna for not erupting or billowing clouds of ash into the atmosphere so we could depart on time! There was a bit of excitement as we were getting onto the plane . We watched the police penitenziari van roll up and three police get out (in plain clothes) then open up the Bach and a great hulk of a man fumble out ...
