... 24hours. But in this short time we have showered away the sea salt and sand, swam in the lake and have eaten handsomely. We'll need to collate all the recipes we have learnt for cooking courgettes! After a beautiful dinner of cubed courgette, fine chopped cashew and parsley on pasta we were presented with a breakfast loaf and pot of jam. Sweet, seeded and slightly green. Gooseberry we figured, but no. Courgette with a dash of orange juice! We have started constructing ...
We made it to Faro, our last stop on the southern shore of Algarve. Trying to avoid the concrete nightmare and crowds of Albufeira beaches, we drove slightly to the east to reach a 3km stretch of white sand called Praia da Falesia. Still pretty busy, but as people were spread out it wasn't so bad, and the water was the warmest so far (maybe ...
Quiet day today, as we had to find a place to watch the France - Germany game before 5. In hindsight I'm not so sure why we bothered, the game was largely soporiphic. The only comfort is that the Portuguese seemed to be rooting for us, thanks guys! But anyways the campsite is nice and family oriented, the swimming pool is big, and ...
... and we finally managed to have a swim in the sea (I think I stayed 5 minutes inside). The beach itself, Dona Ana, was actually very pretty, down a cove between cliffs, deep green water... making it a tropical paradise for Northern Europeans. You can count on them to be here to enjoy it with you. For dinner, a short walk in the old town and we set our minds on a seafood restaurant again. Cataplana, bacalhau, seafood rice, fish soup, everything fresh, simple ...
Day 1- Arrive into Lagos on the 13th by bus (4.5 hours). When we arrive at the Rising cock we realise it's 99% Australians, even the people that work there. Staying in an 11 bed dorm, all the other girls are from Sydney. Get ready and go see Marty at his work, the green room. We go to the tavern to watch the World Cup, three ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Rocamar Hotels & Resorts Albufeira
We have just returned from a week at the Rocamar Hotel in Albufeira and usually mean to write reviews but never do but I appreciate reading them myself before we book so here goes....
My wife and I stayed here for 5 days in October 2004. Unable to find it while driving around ourselves, we were escorted by a couple of local police officers to the hotel. They even had to call back to the office to confirm how to get there. The hotel was in a great location, adjacent to the Old Town tourist area and overlooking the sea. There is a walkway to he beach directly behind the hotel. The service was good, the breakfast was more than adequate and the atmosphere was excellent.
The hotel is old and small, the rooms are only okay but the location and quiet environmet make it very suitable for those looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay. There was little in the way of planned activities and amenities there but for us, it was very suitable.
Welcome to Paradise
We have stayed at this excellent hotel for the past three years and we will be returning, hopefully, in June of this year. If you want to simply relax and re-charge your batteries this is the place. No noisy pubs and clubs nearby but they can be found in the centre of Albufeira for those who wish to 'party'.
The hotel is very clean and comfortable with an excellent staff team (they are like family to us now) The food, especially the fish dishes, are to die for. The beach is just across from the hotel you can just walk from the hotel in your swimsuit its situated so close.
We could live in this hotel forever (if they would lets us).
Location, location, location!
We stayed at the Rocamar Hotel for a week in Sept04 and would recommend it. It sits on the cliff looking down over Albufeira beach in an absolutely perfect location. It's just a five minute walk into the Old Town and just two mins to the beach down a flight of steps.
The rooms are fairly unexceptional - comfortable enough and clean. We didn't bother upgrading to a sea view room as prefer to be out and about than sat in the hotel! Buffet breakfasts were a little dull, but adequate.
Be sure to visit the incredibly friendly Olly's bar - you'll pass it on the way from the Rocamar to the Old Town. Olly and his wife advised us on all the best places to visit/eat in Albufeira - it was like having a personal tour guide!
Good hotel on prime location
excellent hotel in prime position overlooking albufeira beach. minutes walk away from town centre. NO pool but sunbathing area and beach right on doorstep. Rooms kept clean daily, fitted carpet, telelevision and air conditioning/heating in winter. Good hotel for people travelling on their own due to location etc. Spectacular views.
Just spent Christmas (2003) here and the hotel had everything going for it. The location was perfect with a sea view to die for. I would recommend this hotel without any hesitation.
Exellent location, helpfull staff
stayed for one week beginning of oct, exellent location, very helpful staff. five minutes beach and town square. only one bad mark the room was quite obviously previosly occupied by smokers. booked again for two weeks next year first two in oct.
Excellent Location - Excellent Value
Right on the beach at the top of a cliff, beautiful views and short 1 minute walk to town. Definately get a sea view room, you sleep only to the sound of the ocean. The staff was very friendly and the rooms very clean. At 60 E a night, it was a fantastic deal. We booked through the hotel directly. Only disadvantage is parking is on the street, but we had no problems getting a spot. Breakfast included and was good.
We love it
Excellent location, friendly staff, great sea views, close to the centreand buffet breakfasts to remember!
The Hotel is in the right place at the right price. Literally overlooking the sea, the sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking. We (12 of us) were on a golfing Holiday in the first week of November 02. It was glorious. We all had sea views from our rooms. We did a B&B deal. I think we paid something like 70 Euros per room! (£25 each person!). Incredible value. The staff were polite, unassuming, efficient and very proffesional. The Breakfast was presented with Pride and Quality, but no fuss. The Main old town is literally a 5 minute stroll, downhill into the town, a little steep coming back, but it is one of those places where you feel really safe, even late at night. Loved it.
