We have traveled this year to Cancun (June 2009) and Puerto Plata (July) and were ready for another Caribbean vacation. I thought a return trip to Jamaica would be nice (we have had two previous trips to Jamaica ...
Negril, Jamaica mcokerAnd so, the backpacking part of our trip has ended and as we had no time to travel Central America, we decided it would be a good enough substitute to spend a week in Montego Bay, Jamaica. When we first planned our trip we vowed that we would spend the last 10 days or so just chilling and taking it all in on the beach somewhere, so when my brother, Craig, mentioned we should meet him in Jamaica we jumped at it! What a tough week it turned out to be ...

Negril, Jamaica msandy1024I spent almost a week in Negril, a long stretch of beaches along the western tip of Jamaica. Very popular with tourists. I walked the beach several times and I've been annoyed by the "farmers" and the like on a regular basis. They are sometimes aggressive. Better to walk along the road than the beach at night to/from the restaurant for obvious reasons. Nice sunsets.
Negril, Jamaica gratienWe awake to the sounds of the surf and the chatter of the beach workers arranging the lounge chairs and raking the sand before the guests get to the beach. Our room service coffee and fruit arrive, and we plan the day. We want to try the breakfast at the Palms and see how they prepare the food. I pick the fried plantains and French toast with syrup that has fresh fruit mixed into it. Miss Judy has the French toast, fried ...
Negril, Jamaica dragon762... Hurricane Season. Every year from June 1 until November 30 Hurricane's are allowed to 'mash up' both the Greater and Lesser Antilles without regard for human or animal alike. But now that it's December 1st no Hurricane is allowed to even think about forming off the coast of Africa. Phew!
MoBay, Jamaica bobbie7781... were no boarding bridges from the plane to the airport yet, so when you land there you descend a flight of stairs onto the tarmac. To me this is like "old faithful", the fresh smell in the air, the humidity, the heat. I find myself thinking "this is it...he'll either ...
