... out it is the bringing down of the cows from the highland holiday. It's a big celebration. These mountains are so steep there is no way the cows could be way up there and keep their footing or find food on the slopes in the winter months.

We stayed in a really nice little hotel in the town of Nüziders near Bludenz, Austria. These places are swamped during the ski season, ...

Today we left the buzz of the city and throngs of tourists behind and headed for the hills. Five hours later we settled in a lovely little town high in the alpine with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains and valley below. And yes, the water was ...

Wonderful Wildspitze

skies and no wind.

Staying near Jerzens tonight. Had a great evening meal at
the campsite restaurant ...

the Flimsattelbahn and up the Alp Trider Sattelbahn. We counted marmots during
the last two and tried to get a photo from the chairlift, failing miserably. We
decided to call it a day as we were getting quite cold and ...

A Grumpy Old Man....and some great scenery

... breakfast but still with some difficulty. Left it running on gas during the day
but it had failed to fire again while we were away walking. Will leave on electric
all night and review the situation when we are at lower and warmer elevations.

Ordered a 1kg loaf from the bakery last night for 3.5
euro. A little on the large side but excellent, rye-based bread.

Walked from the campsite (1822m) in northerly direction
