We travelled through the arid countryside of a national park. We had very little fuel and there was no sign of human life let alone petrol stations. We programmed Jessica and she found the only fiilling station in the area 8 miles from empty. We will from now on only travel with at least half a tank.

Op de rechteroever slaat de torenklok een keer vaker dan op de linkeroever: in Spanje is het een uur later.
Drie stukjes film: weer dolfijnen, de eerste die we in de Algarve tegen kwamen, blijft voor ons erg leuk, ik hoop voor jullie ook. Dit keer een wat grotere varieteit. Het tweede stukje film is uit de zoutwinning bij het plaatsje Tavira waar kluten, reigers en lepelaars fourageren. Het derde stukje film zijn wat beelden in en rond de Guadiana, de grensrivier.

A silent drive to the train station. Frank drops me off, and I don't say a word as I grab my bag and close the car door. Now what? North or South? I could likely stay with Luis again in Lisbon, but I hate backtracking. Its 6:30 in the morning, and the first train arrives at 7:00, heading North. That's all behind us now (including being last through customs in Faro - but we got plenty of travel advice and tips). The hotel we are calling home in teh Algarve over the next 5 days is called Monte do Casal and it is fabulous! Notwithstanding that they upgraded us to a Suite with our own private terrace with views to the ocean. Will upload some photos of the hotel (where no kids are allowed), but before we do that, some welcomed sleep is needed.

... to make the (rather optimistic) 1km from the station seem like 5km. Finally we reached the end of a dusty road were our 4 star, 2 pool, 2 bar, 55 Euro bargain sat in all its air-conditioned glory. Whilst not exactly oozing charm, it was certainly good value. We're only here for the sea sand and Sagres afterall.

Bussed to Faro, a small seaside town with not a hell of a lot really!!

Our room had no window, but faked the appearance by having a curtain anyway... nothing like a little bit of closet sleeping!!

Looduspark koosneb 60km pikkusest laguunide kogumist, kus elavad mitmesugused linnud ja loomad. Kuna seal oli ukse peal silt, et töötajad on messil, siis võtsime endale voli ikkagi parki jalutama minna. Kokku läks u 1,5h. Radade juures on aeg-ajalt infotahvlid, kus seletatakse mingi looma, linnu või taime päritolu kohta. Mõnusa jalutuskäigu ja linnulaulu otsinguil soovitan sinna minna küll :)

Tavira on 30 km Farost idapool ja 160 km läänepool asub juba Sevilla. Ka siin on selgelt näha moorakate jälgesid nii arhitektuuris kui kultuuris. Ehitati kaks mošeed, kindlus ja palee. Tavira ja Lagos on arhitektuuri poolest kõige ilmekam linnad Algarve piirkonnas.

Minu jaoks tundus Lagose lugu põnevam ja ajalooliselt tähtsam, seega teen kokkuvõte:
