Started our drive to Skukuza Rest Camp with a giraffe at the side of the road nonchalantly eating. It took us 4 hours to get to the rest camp saw elephants, hippos, impalas by the score and monkeys. ... mess hall. Later told by a white guide that there are two sides to every story.

On to SOWETO. The South West Township. Parts are quite new and relatively upmarket. Small bungalows with gardens in nice residential areas. Parts are utter squalor. Basic wooden shacks. Another interesting visit to the Hector Pieterson Museum. He being a 13 year old shot dead in June 1976 by the police when he and fellow school students walked in protest at being taught in Afrikaans ...

... are all friendly and enthusiastic. Rooms, be they tents or huts or whatever, have adequate size and amenities. The game drives all go into the bush. Food and its presentation are similar. However, we believe that the Circuit 3 camps we used were in more remote locations than Circuits 1 and 2, and particularly in Kafue and Hwange necessitated long and difficult drives in and out. Some further thoughts about these logistics will be the subject of a ...
