      Qingdao (pronounced "Zhing Dow") is a mixture of old of new. Old Qingdao is dirty and gritty. The new city is clean and shiny since it was built for the sailing events of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and it has many new skyscrapers. This is also an important Chinese Navy port - five submarines and various other ships were in port with us.

      My vegetarianism has gone out the window pretty much as the Chinese don't seem to do veggie options, or at least I don't have the vocab to ask for it. They bloomin love meat here. I walked past a stall at a food fair the other day and I could swear that they were selling all meat hotdogs, as in the bun was made of meat as well. ...
