Well hanging around the busstation, wating for this guy was an experience as everything else when you travel by yourself. Unfortunately, in all the stress, I managed to cruise by the immigration booth when I first got into Malaysia and hung in limbo for a few days. Realised the potential error, went back to the immigration booth, the official within saying he can stamp me into the country only on the same day that I leave Thailand. So I must go back across the river, cancel the exit stamp, get a new one for that ...

... Terenganu for Merang is at 5:30pm from their central bus terminal. Taxi to Merang from KT costs about 40-50 RM.

It’s worth mentioning that, although the area is very conservative, all the people are very friendly. In four months of travelling we have never met so many people who have been so happy to help us without wanting for anything in return. This border crossing was very easy and we didn’t feel threatened or uneasy at any point.
