... high up in the Apennines Mountains. I went on the perfect sunny fall day. San Marino is noted as a medieval city and its three huge watch towers on the edge of the mountain. I was able to go through the main tower and got the most beautiful views. Oddly enough while we were there I noticed some faint medieval music ...

... South along the Adriatic coast for about a hundred miles. We arrived at our hotel just South of the Port town of Ancona in an area known as Portonuovo which has a commanding view of the sea from a bluff. The wind howls up here and should make for a noisy night. The hotel is devoid of people save a few that we saw in the lounge area. Not surprising given both its remote location and the time of year. Very quite except.....for the wind. All in all a very enjoyable day.

So I will write ‘during the day today we did something all day but that something isn’t worth ...

... who made no effort to move aside and share the two-way walking path with us. We actually had to step off the path pulling our suitcases and walk around them, although I refused to do this by the third group so I basically barrelled through them and knocked one of the women as I went (she wasn’t old or anything!) Self-focused people like that drive me crazy so I delighted in doing it!

... The hardest thing is always finding parking but we were lucky this time and got a great spot where we just had to climb through a park and we were in the walled town. We spent an hour or so wandering around enjoying the town before setting off for Ancona where we intended to explore but this time there wasn't any parking that was easy for the Beast and the congestion was just too much so we drove ...
