De cirkel is rond!!!

... weer vervolgen.

Ups and Downs

... arrived, the other taking another 45mins - Caro´s of course! Our first helpful Venezuelian gave us our first impression we were not in for the budget life we had hoped for, with flights for Los Roques around 4 times the amount we had thought. Quickly abandoning that idea (we had really only wanted it for some beach time and for a scuba course which we can do in Colombia for a fraction of the price), we decided that staying in the airport was also not as appealing and got a ...

Now thats what I call the Carribean

... paridise. Shallow turqoise water and tranquil shady beach.Lovely hour's relaxing before heading to another island to buy beers. This island was inhabited and I stayed on the boat while the rest when into town. Soon I was inundated by the little children who had been swimming around the jetty. I managed to learn all their names, watched them all dive off the jetty for me and they brought me live Cowries but before I could tell them to put the ...

To Puerto La Cruz and beyond

... us in spanish, we point down the road and tell him we are heading there. He continues very slowley through the deep puddles as we follow and find the beach and all the posadas. We find the Sante Fe Resort and Dive Centre. Check in which was fun as the chap could not understand that we had booked a room, after much gesturing we finally got keys to our room. We met up with one of the tourists that was on the bus that passed us, he turns out to be a ...

Travelling South

Puerto La Cruz and on to Santa Fe

... Puerto la Cruz at 3am after being stopped by military check points (for passports etc) nearly every hour while travelling across the country. We decided that for safety and we needed money from ATM´s that at 3am to sit in the freezing air-conditioned bus stop until sun rise. We then headed in to town which had nothing to talk about, and got money finally after trying lots of cash points, got breakfast then back to bus stop to get onto a little minibus to get to Santa Fe ...

This is more like it - nice towns and beaches

... decided that the day was far from over so we all decided to up the stakes from beach rum to battle rum which resulted in us all having a massive wrestling match on the beach (Carla not included). To finish the evening off in true Venezuelan style I fell foul to a local bandit and had a whole 1000 Boliviars (10p) stolen in a dash and grab set up operation as I very irresponsibly walked off with a local in search of NL. I found it quite funny as they made off with their 10p bounty ...
