Can understand why locals enjoy this area and fair play to town/event organisers in this area, they really know how to cater to every age group and interest.
... dawn. Town is asleep until after noon with some people still wandering home. Its hosts Balaton sound (electronic music festival http://nagyonbalaton.hu/balatonvilagos/ ) each year which was on when we were here. Probably the closet equiv to Ibiza but a lot more affordable and with lots of children activities for families. They have tried to make the shoreline like a beach and they have done a good job of it.
I went west 90km but just for a day trip on my last day in Budapest.
Lake Balaton is meant to the the "real deal". You go there for your summer fun in what is Central Europes largest lake - about 75km long but only about 8km wide ( ave) - Hungary's seaside. All I can say is that I won't be going back and I was so pleased I didn't decide to stay there.
