Chop Gate to Blakey Ridge

... have improved dramatically. Much of the way has been along paved paths, built we learnt with the flag stones from demolished cotton mills. Today's path was wide and sandy, joining the old dismantled Rosedale railway all the way to Blakey Ridge. There were loads of people on it. A community marathon had sweaty tattooed creatures passing us regularly, then there were the cyclists, other trekkers, weekend walkers and even a couple of trail bikes competing for the ...

The journey home was straight forward with the only significant wait on Prestatyn Station. Jo practiced Tai Chi and Nick still a bit restless went for a walk up and down the very long platform (720 steps according to the iPhone!). At one stage the train driver had to stop to ...

Travel to Southampton

The day started at 4.30 am when we woke for the taxi to take us to Wetherby from where a coach was to take us to Southampton. Immediately Jo was recognised by a patient of my brothers who was also embarking on a World Cruise but on The Queen Elizabeth. We were very impressed by his luggage, at least 15 cases. Clearly we needn’t have worried about my guitar breaching the suitcase limit (4) and anyway Coopers the tour company had laid on ...
