... and was ushered into see Mr Prest by his carer. He's got all his marbles, wears a shirt and tie every day, just like when he worked in the Knaresborough bank all his career (apart from a stint in the war).

He told me about a lot of his memories, but I'll summarise mainly what he told me about the Waltons and the mill in Knaresborough. He remembers that the mill was called Walton's Mill for all of his working life ...

... couldn't get in because of the size of our suitcases. After a longish (3 hour) wait we caught the train back to Thirsk. This time their was no need to have booked a seat as the first class carriage was virtually empty and the two hour journey passed quickly. Cynthia met us on the platform and inside 20 minutes we were home. Our only task now was to stay awake for a reasonable time to try and combat the jet ...

... butterflies, bees and birds were plentiful and varied. Some of the butterflies insisted on landing on the path in front of us so we had to try to avoid standing on them; they must have had a death wish! One small tortoiseshell butterfly led us along the path for a good while, seeming to land for us to catch up before leading us on again.
