Nach dem Frühstück packten wir unsere Sachen und warteten auf unseren am Vortag gebuchten Van, der uns zur Grenzstadt Chiang Kong fahren sollte.
Mit einstündiger Verspätung wurden wir abgeholt und fuhren in einem vollgestopften 10-Sitzer etwa 3 Stunden bis Chiang Rai. Anscheinend wollte der Fahrer die Verspätung wieder einholen, anders sind die quietschenden Reifen in den Kurven und Tempo 90 statt 40 km/h nicht zu erklären...

... das Visum ausgestellt war, konnten wir endlich einreisen. Anschließend haben wir uns ein Hostel gesucht und den Tag gemütlich ausklingen lassen, weil es für einen Bus Richtung Norden schon zu spät war. Da Huay Xai meist nur von Touristen zur Durchreise besucht wird und es hier nicht viel zu tun gibt, sind wir am nächsten Morgen zusammen mit Richard und Meline nach Luang Namtha aufgebrochen.
