... exploring the island during the day and experiencing the night life in the evening.
(As a side note: I think we have finally figured out the timing on the island: 9pm-11pm is dinner 12am-3am club) We kept showing up way to early....embarrassing.

... on sun beds thought the spectacle amusing and I was beginning to wonder if I was to be the next YouTube phenomena - sadly not it would appear - and don't think that I haven't looked ha ha xx I've also included another "view from the sunbed" it's Freddie modelling the latest headgear which has a built in fan operated by a solar panel in the crown haha There is also one for the boys which is a baseball cap and the fan is in the peak ...
... Turkish, she can hardly speak the language. She has spoken Greek all her life. Because of the partition she was more or less forced to learn to speak Turkish, but she was too old for that. We have always lived together, Turkish and Greek Cypriots. I don’t understand why we are told to hate each other. It is almost forty years now, that we are separated. I am getting old. I hope that before I die, we’ll be one country ...
Most of the walled city of Lefkosa is like a Mediterranean village; streets are empty most of the day. Except for the tourist routes. But there are signs of "things that are going to happen or that might happen if you don't take precautions". There are chairs at the side of the road, but what time will someone come out of the house to sit and watch time float by? ...
... Yes, ladies and gentlemen. In case you missed it, the *****ian-American match in Kyrenia on July 11, 2012 was quite the entertainment event and I am sure will be retold in the original language and Greek for quite some time.
I have to wrap this up, but in all fairness to my sparring partner, I do want to share something Ozge told me. She said that the universities in Cyprus do a lot to recruit English speakers from various places including a lot ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Riverside Garden Resort Alsancak - Karavas
Time at riverside
i first visited riverside holiday village in 2003, which i thoroughly enjoyed so we all decided to go back in 2006, to my disappointment our room was in bad condition, to which i was very dismayed, the overall cleanliness of the village had changed. the staff where not as friendly as the recent ones. and when it come to the nightlife the ranch bar was a morgue. im sorry riverside but your hotel has gone right down the drain which is such a shame as i really enjoyed my stay in 2003 but 2006 was a complete letdown. Th e mangagement need to take a serious look on how to make riverside a more friendly and busy village to stay in, as on a evening there is nothing to do, and alot of customers go else where for food and entertainment.
We stayed at the Riverside Holiday Village from the 8th - 15th April 2006. The holiday was booked direct with the hotel who also arranged flights and transfers at a very good price
Very nice hotel in the nature
it was very good holiday for me.. hotel is not luxry but they have everything for holiday.. hotel emplyoyees are very good, service is very good and also food's are very nice... i rented a bicycle for 3 days and paid 20stg, area is very nice villages and peoples are very warm... there are so many restaurants and good markets around the hotel. their rooms are villas and they have all equipment for cooking in the room so if you want you can cook your own meal in your villa... they have indoor swiming pool and open air swiming pool, moreover they have small aqua park... during my holiday i used gym and sauna equipments were profesional... finally housekeeping service was very nice....
First impressions in October 2004 urged me to take a trip alone with my daughter in June 2005 and again in October 2005, when it was like a family reunion! So many people were there again who we knew it was amazing. The rooms are good and if not satisfactory you will be reallocated, the staff are very friendly. It is a family run village and the family regularly eat at the restaurant which is a very good sign, the food is excellent and always plenty of choice! Expect traditional Turkish cuisine, cooked breakfasts are not quite the English version! The staff are always willing to help if you have a picky food child. The only real downside is the gym a bit antiquated, massages are superb! Going back again in May so fingers crossed everything will be great again. My daughter won't go anywhere else loves the aqua park and picking fresh oranges etc. Not a place for after dinner entertainment so be prepared to take taxis, a mini bus takes you to Kyrenia and local beaches, returning about 3ish every day. A totally relaxing holiday, lots to do if you make the effort.
This looked like a good place for families in hot summer weather, but out of season and with few residents the property seemed rather drab and forlorn. The so-called superior villa allocated was shabby, with stained carpets, broken tiles and a barely adequate bathroom, and because it had not been occupied it was cold and uninviting. Moreover it was next to a farm and sleep was disturbed by animal noises. We had only one meal - breakfast - before moving elsewhere, and it was very plain indeed. I have no wish to criticise the hotel on the basis of one night's stay, and I must say that the management and staff were charming, but I am posting these comments because I think the travel brochures paint a rather optimistic picture and that this is not a good choice for singles, couples and seniors.
January 1st in Northern Cyprus. Nice and sunny but the temp is a bit cool for winter week, however only about 10 mins rain so not too bad. Flight out on Cyprus Turkish airline was quite average and the food and service was good as long as you can put up with the 45 mins at Antalya for the next leg of 45 mins to Ercan next to Nicosia. The return was bearable but the food was not and on both journeys a bit noisy.
lovely place, friendly people, excellent beaches, excellent food. only problem after dinner no entertainment, boring
We have just returned from a 14 day trip to Riverside Village had an excellent time. Our apartment was superb plenty of room and spotlesly clean, the towels and bedding are changed every 2 days and nothing is to much trouble for the staff. We stayed B a B basis which was the best option as there were several local resteurants which offered good value food these being.
Excellent, fantastic, wonderful in Riverside!
Visited the Riverside in the summer of August 2003. The complex is family run and produces all its own fruit and vegetables. There is a farm attached to the complex. Its about a 15 minute drive from kyrenia. Northern cyprus is an unspoilt part of the island of Cyprus. The rooms at the riverside are spacious and clean. You have to be a bit quick in the morning to get your towels at the pool loungers. We got round this by going to a local beach called Sunset Beach there is courtesy transport laid on. Sunset beach has a restaurant and when we visited there were fewer than half a dozen people using the pool and loungers all free of charge as long as you buy a drink or a bite to eat. Riverside itself has a good Resaturant and poolside bar. They also put on specisl local themed evenings which are free if you are half board. The accomodation is very cheap ------------------------------------------. the only downside is at the you have to Fly in via Turkey. We anjoyed our two weeks very relaxing and very hot around 40C. Would recommend to couples of any age and families. Riverside also has tennis courts and horse riding. The local Restaurants are great particularly the Farmhouse just 2 minutes walk away graet family atmosphere. Will be going back in 2005
