I open my eyes – all is dark. I rub them – still, no light. Inching forward, my bini clad head emerges from the mountain of blankets and sleeping bags – there is now some light but also an icy, breathtaking chill. Quickly I dive back into the warm darkness of our nest. My second attempt at getting up is more successful. Determined I scrape the ice off our sleeping bags and shake the water bottle to see if all its content has already gone into the solid aggregate ...
Kas, Antalya, Turkey manic-tripWe had a heck of a rainstorm last night in Olympos; but it didn't delay the plan to travel westward on the Med. So, here we are in Kas, a beautiful quiet sleepy town with a yacht basin filled with sailboats.
The hostel is Beautiful. I think the best I have ever stayed in. And the price isn't too bad, although it is the off season. This Might be It- the place I have been looking for. But, of course, it's too early to tell.
... We walk a bıt wıth 2 ısrealıs. Whıle younger, they fınd the trek quıte dıffıcult. We took a day off 4 days ago and went canoeıng for 18 kms... a good rest for the legs but not the arms! Altıtude ıs dıffıcult because we go up and down more or less 1000 meters regularly but the aır ıs fresh up there (7 degress less!). So go look at the photos!
Alınca-Patara-Kalkan-Kas, Antalya Province, Turkey lerouxsimard... was a saviour waiting for us in the form of an old lady shopkeeper who sat us down and provided us with grapes picked straight from the vine and figs straight from the tree. She's our hero!
After a couple of nights in the shed we headed further along the coast to a far more sophisticated location - our room in Kas was even equipped with BBC News! Kas is beautifully located on the coast and this time we enjoyed it ...

Megísti (Kastelorizo), Greece pmitroulias... s back then but for other uses! There was a massive archway still standing - part of a larger temple. Its great here -- you can wander in and around the ruins without any obstructions ... plus we were the only ones here which was excellent. We crossed another stream and checked out more ruins until we got lost (not very well sign-posted) -- EG eventually found a way back for us, we did see some small turtles ...
Kekova, Turkey chooklotto... gorgeous, refreshing water. You could clearly see the bottom at least 15 to 20 feet underneath you. We loved every minute of relaxing on the "beach". I also liked swimming there a lot more than I normally do too because the water was really calm and it was nice to see what was around you. We spent the first few days exploring the town and enjoying the beach. The third day we did a kayaking trip to a ancient sunken city in Kevoka. It was a small group that included us, 2 ...
Kas, Turkey kskye1... well as jive ass New Yowkers Mike and Fink. Though Fink was his surname, Fink actually looked like what a fink would probably look like. İn no time, this group of totally random travellers knew each other pretty well, and we all his the local fish market and restaurant spot hwere we bought up big on fresh seafood and sat down whilst Turkish blokes cooked it up for us. The service was unusually flaccid for Turkey`s standards (is flaccid the right word ...
Fethiye, Turkey thesaxman... it had the most exceptlonal acoustics - I was humming a tune to myself when I realised it. It must have been accidental because no other one I tested had any resonance; besides the dead don't hum. As far as I know. A fourty five minute wait by the highway could have been divided into about six naps on the pavement, had I been so brave, and a bus came along to take me to Kas. We made slow progress and, because I was sitting up at the front of the bus, I glanced over to see what ...
