Historical Traveler Reviews Riverhouse at the Park Gatlinburg

    GREAT,GREAT,GREAT

    from

We just returned from a weekend stay April 22-24. Riverhouse at the Park surpassed all my expectations. The room had a gas log fireplace which I did not expect. The private balcony was great. Have stayed at worse places for more money. The quietness of the rooms shocked me. Even though we were on the second floor we could not hear the people above or below us which is usually not the case in other hotels. The donuts were out of this world, staff were very friendly. We went for a walk along the walking trail by the river, very quiet and a nice walk. I will stay at this hotel again and again.

    Will stay again.

We have just completed a weeks stay at Riverhouse by the park. It was everything other reviews said it was. We happened to stay on the fourth floor street side ,which I thought was just as interesting as being on the riverside. The pool and hottub are in a private courtyard and are clean and enjoyable. The rooms are kept very clean and the fireplaces and balconies are great. The parking lot is in a private courtyard away from other traffic. You are going to like this motel, the rooms are spacious and the staff is helpfull and friendly. We are definetly going to stay here again.

Great place in a great town

    from

My wife and I stayed here with our two young children, and it was great. The room was very large and clean and the fireplace was nice. The balcony overlooking the river was perfect, and the breakfast brought to the room was a plus. It's on the edge of town, so it's within walking distance from many of the restaurants, shops, and attractions, but not so close to the other end of town. We would stay here again for sure.

    Love this place

    from

wouldn't stay anywhere else. We come every year for the last 15 yrs tried other places but always come back here for the down home atmosphere and welcoming attitude of the staff. Fresh homemade doughnuts and the best toast in town brought to your room within seconds of ordering.

    Very Unique

    from

Been staying in Gatlinburg for years. Have seen a lot of new hotels go up in those years and chalets. I have also been very disappointed in both of them. This is the only place I would suggest that anyone stay if they want a great room and view for the price, it is the best. Very convenient to all the great places to eat, walking distance to shopping and eating. I do not make plans for a trip unless I know I have a room at Riverhouse at the Park.

    Home away from Home

    from

I've been to Gatlinburg all my life and stayed in various hotels all across the place. As an adult vacationer I've always come back to either Riverhouse or Riverhouse at the Park (same owners), usually 2-3 times per year. As of the past several years I've pretty much just used R@P. Anyway, I've always been so pleased with everything about the place...room cleanliness, space, amenities, ambience, location, friendliness, continental breakfast, pools...everything. It's come to the point that I don't even search out other hotel options anymore, because I've become so accustomed to the warm accomodations there. I really feel that my trips to Gatlinburg wouldn't be nearly so comfortable if I weren't in "my home away from home". My teenage son and his friends, as well as myself and my friends have adoped this hotel as our standard, and have loved every trip we've ever taken there. I recommend Riverhouse at the Park to anyone who is looking for an all-around great room and facility without having to worry about what you're going to be getting for your hotel dollar once you're there. Just book it and go...no worries.

    Great Place to Stay...very romantic!

    from

We first visited Gatlinburg last fall (2003).

Friends had told us about The Riverhouse at the Park and how lovely the rooms were with the fireplaces. I am so happy we took their advice.

The rooms are very large with great balconies and could make for a very romantic setting.

The rooms are also very clean!!

The breakfast in the AM is brought up to you within minutes of your phone call and it is very delicious.

We are making plans again now in 2004 to come back during the Christmas Holidays.

If you stay here, you will not be disappointed!

    The Best place.

My husband and I have stayed at The River House for the past 5 Years. We stumblled upon the wonderful hotel in the fall of 1999. The rooms and the bathrooms are VERY clean and the service you can not ask for anything better. We recomend everyone we know to this woderful hotel. We have 3 small children so we need the room and here you diffently get that the rooms are so big. The balcony is wonderful, there is nothing better sitting outside when the kids are sleeping, wraped up in blackent next to your husband listening to the river flow by or for a romatic weekend get away from the kids with the one you love sitting in front of the fire place. I have found the place that meets all of our family needs. Oh don't forget about the outside pool and hot tub. Need we say more.... Nathan and Kristie McCall

    Great Place to Stay

    from

This motel was recommended by someone over the internet who said we wouldn't be disappointed and we weren't. Their rooms are quite spacious; much larger than a standard motel room. It also had a separate dressing area with fridge, microwave, vanity with sink and plenty of room for storage. The bathroom was roomy as well and very clean. Our room overlooked a cool, rushing stream, and we were glad to have a private balcony we could enjoy it from. This motel is situated at the end of River Road, right up against the National Park. A trail leading into the park is located just a stone's throw away. A call to Housekeeping in the morning brings you a choice of homemade donuts, toast w/jam, and beverages. In my estimate this place, at $79 a night, is a real bargain.

My next to last park in my last state, the Great Smoky Mountains Nat. Park does not lack in beauty. Part of the Blue Ridge Mts., the park is another World Heritage Site. It is also the most visited Nat. Park with about twice as many visitors as the second place Grand Canyon. Although small by western standards ( high peak 6643 ft.), ...

... and now my house will smell like Jack Daniels all the time. Mmmm. It was a fantastic tour that I highly recommend.

We took winding, backcountry roads toward Chattanooga. I am grateful for GPS. We saw hillsides draped in kudzu, telephone poles with kudzu climbing the cables, trees covered in kudzu. Cleveland, Tennessee had a Cracker Barrel so we stopped for dinner. Bud asked if the waitress was doing a fake ...

... she relays a piece of information to me - apparently, there's a claw mark on the door. This is due to in 2012, when the owners were staying here, late at night they heard load barking from the dogs who live on the mountain. Upon investigation on the morning, it was evident that a bear had come unto the house and the dogs were warning them not to come outside! Of course this information then triggered Gemma to not want to set a food outside, not even ...

After white water rafting we ate at this amazing pizza shack that served pizza only and no seats but only a deck with a game of hook and a ring toss. We then fished and looked for rubies and sapphires and found some! Jesse found this ugly disgusting millipede! He finds the weirdest bugs and ...
